Complaints Messages

This content discusses specific message data for MxToolbox's Complaints feature.

Note: For the purposes of this data, MxToolbox uses the term "complaint" to describe every type of criticism that a user, server, or system could potentially send about an email. For example, a message recipient might determine one of your emails looks like spam or is configured improperly and generate a complaint about it.

The Complaints Messages page is a source of various data from external sources that are actual registered user complaints, such as clicking the "Spam" or "Junk" buttons on emails you send to them or other methods for users to mark your message as correspondence they did not want to receive. It provides an investigative and detailed approach of the inboxes flagging your messages as complaints each day and works in tandem with the Complaints Details page, which offers an overview of complaints filed.

Complaints Messages Table

Samples of spam complaints are available by clicking the blue View Message text on the right-hand side of the subsequent list and scrolling down. This view provides all details related to the flagged email that was perceived as spam or merely unwanted by a recipient. An email's headers, date sent, subject line, and much more are available via this option. The "Spam?" column in the same table notifies you if your message was indeed labeled as spam (red indicator), or instead the content/another aspect of the email was not appealing to the receiver. A green checkmark indicates the email was not viewed as spam by the recipient.

Each category (Date, Inbox, Outbound Email Source (OES), Message Subject, Report Type, Source, Spam?, and Message Details) is sortable by using the arrow icons located within the column headers, and the search feature lets you quickly find information about individual complaints for further analysis.

Complaint Integrations

To begin populating your data, you need to set up the Complaint Integrations section here. You will find feedback loops and other complaint reporting in this section. These are usually derived from users clicking "Spam" or "Junk" in their inbox. You might also get data in bounced addresses, unsubscribed requests, or users who have whitelisted your emails.
