DMARC Integration

This article explains MxToolbox's DMARC Integration.

To access the DMARC Integration, click here.

Step 1: Add Your Domain:

Enter your preferred domain into the field. In most cases this will be your root domain (i.e., mxtoolbox.com). If you want only delivery data for a particular sub-domain, then enter that value into the field (i.e., subdomain.mxtoolbox.com).

Step 2: Change Your DNS:

MxToolbox will provide you with a DNS record value and instructions for how to update this at your DNS provider. This will forward DMARC report data to MxToolbox for processing and analysis.

Step 3: Select the "I have changed my DNS" checkbox:

Once you have published your DMARC record or made changes to an existing one, click the "I have changed my DNS" checkbox . From here, we will verify the record matches and, if successful, you will be set up!

Integration Status Definitions
Active: Setup completed and functioning
Failing: Setup completed and not currently functioning
Inactive: Never completed setup
In Setup: Setup currently in progress
Waiting for Data: Setup completed and waiting for system to generate data

Frequently Asked Questions

1. I already have a DMARC record in place, what do I need to do?

In order to integrate your DMARC with MxToolbox, you will need to update your DMARC record with ours (provided during integration setup). If you have existing settings (e.g., other reporting addresses, custom mechanisms, etc.), we will take a snapshot of those settings when you add your domain during the DMARC integration setup and then we will import those exact settings into to the new record provided to you.

Example: Your domain currently has a DMARC record of:

v=DMARC1; p=none; sp=reject; rua=mailto:someone@domain.com,mailto:reports@domain.com

When we create the new DMARC record for you to update, we copy all the unique settings and variables you already have above and only add an additional mailto: address.

Your new DMARC record will now look like this:

v=DMARC1; p=none; sp=reject; rua=mailto:someone@domain.com,mailto:reports@domain.com,mailto:1234@mxtoolbox.dmarc-report.com

2. I need to send DMARC reports to multiple addresses, does MxToolbox support that?

Yes, if you have existing reporting addresses, they are imported when you update your DMARC record to the one provided by MxToolbox. If you need to add or remove addresses at any point after that, you can do so in your MxToolbox Delivery Center account.

3. Do I need to move my DNS records to MxToolbox?

No, all of your DNS records remain hosted at your DNS provider. When you integrate your DMARC record with MxToolbox, we provide one (1) CNAME record for you to add to your DNS hosting provider. That single CNAME record then points to our system so we can receive your DMARC reports and you can modify your DMARC settings in your Delivery Center account.

4. How do I make changes to my DMARC record after setting up this CNAME record?

By setting up that CNAME record, your DMARC record is integrated into Delivery Center and you can make changes to your DMARC settings within your MxToolbox Delivery Center account any time you desire.
