Email Delivery Tools
This content spotlights some MxToolbox email delivery tools to help improve your deliverability.
Delivery Test
The Email Deliverability tool provides a deliverability report by analyzing several factors of your outbound messages, including:
- Headers
- Blacklist reputation of IP address
- SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records (where applicable)
Our systems analyze the above aspects of your email to generate a comprehensive deliverability report.
If this is your first time using the tool, it requires you to send a test email to MxToolbox (pings@mxtoolbox.com) for examination. After sending your message, check your inbox for a reply. Then, click the "View your full deliverability report" link to view our thorough analysis.
If you've previously used the Email Deliverability tool, simply enter your email address in the provided field and click the "Search" button. Your results will immediately appear in the same tab as the tool.
Results
At the top of the analysis page, you see the Header Analyzed section with your Email Subject just below.
Next, the Delivery Information section shows if your email achieved the following:
- DMARC Compliant
- SPF Alignment
- SPF Authenticated
- DKIM Alignment
- DKIM Authenticated
Relay Information is the next topic. It shows if your message encountered any delays after being sent, which will affect its deliverability. It also provides how long the delay lasted. If prolonged, an error likely occurred that needs to be fixed.
SPF and DKIM Information is also tested with our Email Deliverability tool. Click the "Show" button in each group to review specific results. If any information is highlighted red, you need to take action to correct the issue to improve your email deliverability.
The next section, Headers Found, analyzes each component of your sent message, including Return-Path, DKIM-Signature, and Content-Type.
The Received Header section displays the same information, but in its original encoded format.
Bounce Analysis
The Email Delivery Bounceback tool diagnoses the reasons your email is being bounced. It utilizes MxToolbox's unique centralized repository of bounceback messages that span hundreds of email provider responses.
How to Search Bounceback Errors
When you receive a bounceback email from an inbox provider, simply copy the full message (including the header) and paste it in the provided text box. Next, click the "Analyze Message" button. Results will then be displayed for further inspection.
If we don't have the bounceback response specific to you in our library, you may choose to send it to us and we'll investigate to add information on the bounce to our database.
Results
After completing the above steps, a Permalink is shown at the top of the results page.
Below that link, the "We found the following possible bouncebacks:" designation signals all the potential error messages the email you submitted might produce. Our database generates these possible bouncebacks and arranges them by provider. The most popular/used providers are included with our findings, with direct links for your reference.
At the bottom of the page, the message and header you submitted for analysis is shown in its encoded format. A Full Bounceback List option is also available to give you more information regarding various email providers' bounceback messages.
Header Analysis
Email headers are part of every email sent and received online. The Email Header Analyzer tool makes headers human readable by parsing them according to RFC 822.
A full and valid email header provides a detailed log of the network path taken by the message between the sender and the receiver (email server). Headers also provide valuable diagnostic information, such as identifying:
- Delivery delays
- Approximate source of delays
- Culpability of delays
- Anti-spam results
Using the Tool
To analyze an email header, simply copy the full header text and paste it into the box provided. Next, click the "Analyze Header" button to immediately display MxToolbox's analysis, specifically any delay issues.
