[Security](https://knowledgebase.mxtoolbox.com/home/account-management?hsLang=en#security) # Two-factor Authentication ## This article explains how MxToolbox supports two-factor authentication (2FA). **Paid users** can protect their accounts with additional security in the form of Two-factor Authentication (2FA), also known as Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). MxToolbox supports **Short Message Service (SMS)** and **Time-based One-time Password (TOTP)**. Visit the [MFA Settings Page](https://mxtoolbox.com/user/twostepverification) to configure MFA. **Note:** You will be asked for your password a second time when accessing the MFA page to confirm that you are recently authenticated and should be able to enable or disable MFA on your account. Or, you can access 2FA this way: 1. Log in to your account. 2. Click your **username/email address** in the top right corner of the page to access the dropdown menu (highlighted red below). 3. Click the **Settings** option (highlighted red below). 4. Select the **2-Factor Authorization** tab on the black bar menu (highlighted red below). 5. Choose which verification method you want (**Software Token**, **Text Message**, or **Disabled**) (highlighted red below). 6. After following the instructions, the **Status: Enabled** and the **Two-Factor Authenitication is setup** notations will sync (both highlighted red below). ![2fa](https://knowledgebase.mxtoolbox.com/hs-fs/hubfs/2fa.png?width=670&height=363&name=2fa.png) If/when needed, you can update your phone number by clicking the orange **Reset Phone Number** button on the bottom of the page (highlighted red above).
